21st century life style disorders-- A glimpse

Basic Imbalance

The obvious imbalance in modern times is caused by inactivity in day-to-day living. The human body is designed for hard manual work because of thousands of years of evolutionary conditioning. If we do not make use of its potential range of natural movements, we are misusing it. At the same time, all the mental manifestations of this inactivity make the body incapable of functioning in a harmonious pattern. Thus, not being aware one takes modern medication which, most of the time worsens the functioning of the mind-body.

Also we know that the lack of use of body movement results in muscle atrophy as well as a drastic reduction in muscle strength. Each individual must try and maintain the basic necessary balance. Many who lose a lot of weight without exercise are not aware that they have lost quality weight, i.e. major percentage of muscle, making them a potential target of obesity and a host of related diseases.

The muscles act as shock absorbers as well support the joints through various range of motions. Once the muscle loses strength to go through the motions of life, the joints take the brunt, which results in a series of pains and orthopedic problems. Some commonly observed diseases are obesity, gout, diabetes, arthritis, loss of bone density, spondolysis, slipped disc, knee problems, hypertension, heart disorders, etc.

Almost 80% of diseases are actually disorders, as generally categorized and believed by most people. Modern science also agrees that they are psychosomatic disorders. Which simply means that there is an imbalance in the body or imbalance in the mind or imbalance between mind-body phenomenon.
