Just a few examples
If these emotions become a habit pattern, they start getting solidified in the body and the body starts taking the form of the emotion. For example, the body of a person who feels depressed all the time will over a period of time slouch and shrink in size. Over a period of time the slouch in the posture will also affect the breathing mechanism, it will be compressed, allowing less space for the diaphragm and lungs to expand. The shallow breath will affect the state of the body as well as the mind. Thus begins a vicious cycle, where depression becomes a constant companion.
I have heard a case where a woman having breast cancer was being treated with regular medical treatment. She went to many doctors and one of the doctors told her that there is some incident in her past which is connected to the present disease. She completely denied that anything could be remotely connected to her disease. After a couple of days she went back and narrated a event in her life which she thought could be traced back to a thought of anger and hatred which she had felt in her breast 25 years ago. That seed of hatred sown in a body part, over the years, became cancerous.
Another person, in spite of doing the right exercises, getting the right diet advice and following the regime to the last detail, failed to lose even an ounce of weight. On further probing it was found that this person had the habit of collecting things and not throwing anything. Even bus tickets, movie tickets which she had seen many years ago were kept as memory. Many people have this habit. Her whole room was a dumping yard. She was advised to get rid of this debris, which she did. Within three weeks, she lost four kilos. The point is that her mind was holding on to the unwanted and that habit was manifested as (unwanted) fat storage which the body did not let go.
I would go a step further and say that specific emotions affect specific organs. For example, fear is connected to the kidneys and the bladder. That is why we see people who have an extremely fearful experience, will start urinating. Anger affects the liver. Worry and self-pity affects the spleen and the pancreas. Impatience; cruelty and hatred affect the heart. Sadness, grief and depression take its toll on the lungs.
