Doctors must become Healers

Very few medical students are even aware of how a living organism functions. They are seldom taught to study their own process of health. I doubt whether they have a syllabus on how to take care of their own health? To study how a living organism functions, what could be a better subject and object, than their own bodies? The whole essence of these paragraphs is neither to criticize the medical fraternity nor to doubt the doctors’ skills. Doctors give advice in the best interest of their patients but their advice comes from the knowledge they have acquired through their education. Many times their advice comes from being a part of the consumer industry.

They probably are not aware of the other side of healing that nature has provided us, which is so simple and does not need an investment of millions. That knowing can only come from one’s own experiential understanding. Knowledge is fixed in time, whereas knowing is a continuous process. Knowledge is dead; it is someone else’s experience. In matters of health, the living organism is also a continuous process. Therefore, it becomes the most important parameter for educating the doctors to study the live organism. That can only come from understanding one’s own mind-body. All doctors must at least have some training in practical spirituality. If they study their own inner process, they will tend to become spiritual beings with compassion as a by-product. Their professional life and personal life will have minimal conflict.

Doctors are supposed to be on the highest rung of the ladder of health. It is essential that they work through their own mind-body experience. All doctors must focus on health management rather than disease management. On the other hand, every individual must make the effort to take responsibility for their own health. We must include health in our education system so that the children learn to enjoy using their body by doing activities, rather than focusing on competitive rote learning. Books, percentage, and more books, it goes on and on. You can go to a doctor to understand disease if you are suffering. You do not need to be a doctor to understand your own health.
